1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using MathStar ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you disagree with any part of the terms, you may not access the service.

2. Definitions

  • "Platform" refers to the MathStar website and services
  • "User" refers to any individual or entity using the Platform
  • "Parent" refers to a user with a parent/guardian account
  • "School" refers to an educational institution using our services
  • "Content" refers to all materials, questions, and resources on the Platform

3. Accounts and Registration

3.1 You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. Children under 18 must have parental consent and supervision.

3.2 You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password. MathStar cannot and will not be liable for any loss or damage from your failure to comply with this security obligation.

3.3 You are responsible for all content posted and activity that occurs under your account.

3.4 One person or entity may not maintain more than one free account.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

4.1 Subscription plans are billed annually in advance.

4.2 Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store credit card information.

4.3 Refunds: We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee for annual subscriptions. Contact us within 14 days of purchase for a full refund.

4.4 Price changes: We reserve the right to modify subscription fees with 30 days' notice.

4.5 Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time. Access continues until the end of your billing period.

5. Device Limits

5.1 Parent Plan: Maximum 2 devices per account

5.2 Family Plan: Maximum 4 devices per account

5.3 School Plan: No device limit

5.4 Device resets: Parent plan allows 1 reset per year, Family plan allows 2 resets per year

5.5 Attempting to bypass device limits may result in account suspension

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Share account credentials with unauthorized users
  • Attempt to bypass device limits or security measures
  • Use the platform for any illegal purpose
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service
  • Scrape, copy, or reproduce content without permission
  • Impersonate any person or entity
  • Upload or transmit malicious code

7. Content and Intellectual Property

7.1 All content on the Platform, including questions, explanations, and resources, is owned by MathStar and protected by copyright laws.

7.2 Users may download and print worksheets for personal, non-commercial use only.

7.3 Schools may use content for classroom instruction but may not redistribute or sell materials.

7.4 You retain ownership of any content you submit (e.g., feedback, suggestions), but grant us a license to use it to improve our services.

8. Privacy and Data Protection

8.1 Our privacy practices are governed by our Privacy Policy.

8.2 We comply with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

8.3 For children under 13, we require verifiable parental consent.

8.4 Parents may request access to or deletion of their child's data.

9. Third-Party Services

We use third-party services including:

  • Stripe for payment processing
  • Cloud hosting providers
  • Email service providers

These services have their own terms and privacy policies.

10. Termination

10.1 You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us or using the account deletion feature.

10.2 We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users.

10.3 Upon termination, your right to use the service will immediately cease.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MathStar shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless MathStar and its employees from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the service or violation of these Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of London, UK.

15. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes via email or through the platform. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
